CD Review: Threshold Double-Up The "Legends Of The Shires" & Awaken I Am Give Us "Blind Love"

British progressive metal band Threshold are preparing to release their first ever double album on September 8th. The title of this new release is "Legends Of The Shires" and features the return of their former lead singer Glynn Morgan. The new 14-song, double-album begins with the gentle two-minute acoustics of "The Shire (part 1)," before kicking the energy up a notch with "Small Dark Lines." Threshold deliver their first epic piece in the set with the nearly 12-minute "The Man Who Saw Through Time." The music combines the intensity of metal with the progressive artistry of musicianship to create amazing sonic pieces like with "Trust The Process" and "On The Edge."

The second disc begins with "The Shire (Part 2)," which continues the story with its acoustic-folk backdrop. The energy picks back up again with "Snowblind" and "Superior Machine" as their metal side is on full display. They wrap up their new double-album release with the ten-plus minute sonic landscape of "Lost In Translation" and the piano-led ballad "Swallowed." Threshold are hitting the road in Europe for 2 months. For a complete list of shows and to find out more about their new album "Legends Of The Shires," please visit thresh.net.

From Australia comes the arrival of the latest album from Awaken I Am titled "Blind Love." It will be released on September 29th through Victory Records and features 10 electronic, hard-edged metal anthems, beginning with "Walk My Way." The band comes blasting back with the up-tempo mainstream rock of "Red Wine Regret" and the thunderous, sonic clash of the title song "Blind Love." They deliver the powerful, emotional instrumental "Be Still," before wrapping up their new release with the energetic assault of "Naive," which features their most heavy melodic sound, and final surge of power with "Wolves."
