CD Review: "Devil's Domain" Soundtrack Mixes Classic Artists With New Music

The cyber horror film "Devil's Domain" was released in theaters on April 28th and accompanying the film is a 2CD soundtrack filled with cult classic artists and one hit wonders. The movie stars Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs) as the father of teenager, Lisa, played by Madi Vodane. Lisa gets bullied at school and makes a deal with the devil for revenge.

The soundtrack begins with the dark, goth-like tones of "Losing Myself In You" from VOWWS featuring Gary Numan. The full, 35-song soundtrack mixes classic artists with new underground music to create a release that relates to different age groups. The new release continues with Iggy & The Stooges delivering the eerie "I'm Sick Of You," before going further back with the blues of "I've Been Mistreated" from Big Jay McNeely. The eighties come alive with the electronics of Xynn's "Schooldays" and the hit single "Puttin' On The Ritz" re-recorded by Taco. Hip-hop artists DMX and Onyx join the fray with their hits, while new artists Geri X, Blackburner and Pink Velvet lend their tracks to help modernize this horror soundtrack.

The second disc kicks off with the dark, atmospheric, electronic instrumental "Mersey Mad Beat" by Le Seul Element. The wildly chaotic instrumental "Snitches Get Stitches" by Luna 13 play perfectly into the overall mood and feel of the soundtrack. The second disc is made up of mostly instrumental pieces as with the grand "Interlude" by Carved Souls and the intense build-up of sound of Inhalt's "Noise." The soundtrack wraps up with the sonic collage of "Gulls" from Bestial Mouths and the electronic dance/pop of Radclyffe Hall's "OMG."
