Legendary Australian singer/songwriter Paul Kelly will be releasing his latest album "Seven Sonnets & A Song" on July 29th through Gawd Aggie/Cooking Vinyl America. It features seven songs inspired by the works of William Shakespeare as Kelly turns the words of Shakespeare into modern folk works of art. Beginning with "Sonnet 138," Kelly and his band add a jazzy swing to Shakespearian lyrics, while the short two-minute "Sonnet 73" is a supported by beautiful sweeping music. Some of Shakespeare's most famous words are found in "Sonnet 18" as Kelly turns this into folk gold. The only non-Shakespearian song on the album is the beautiful ballad "My True Love Hath My Heart," sung by Vika Bull. The album finishes with Kelly spurting the lyrics of "Sonnet 60" with authority and purpose, before closing with the acoustic folk delivery of "O Mistress Mine." The Americana/rock duo of Lucy Tight and Wayne Waxing are releasing their latest musical adventure "Drive Til U Die" on August 12th under the name Hymn For Her. They are a traveling band that chose the road instead of a permanent homestead and their latest album reflects that. Beginning with "Devil's Train," the new eleven-song release starts off with an up-tempo rocker that calls this party to order with it's true-to-life lyrics. Lucy's folk-style vocals are supported by the perfect backdrop of acoustics on "Mazzy Star," before the Grateful Dead/Black Crowes sounding collaboration of "Paraguay." The duo pay tribute to their lifestyle with the guitar-shuffle of "Hi Ho Silver" explaining their life on the road in their Airstream camper. They follow with the gentle country-folk acoustics of "Onebigachinheart" and the raucous rock of "Shine," before closing with the quick-pace of the rockabilly thunder of "The Road Song." Hymn For Her are currently on tour in Europe, but they will be returning to the U.S. in late-August.
