CD Review: Progressive Rockers Imagery Start Their "Inner Journey"

From south of the equator comes the Brazilian progressive-rock band Imagery with their debut album, "The Inner Journey." The band came together in 2008 from the ashes of former metal bands G.A.F. and Revolt to create new music that had the technicality of prog-rock with the aggressiveness of heavy metal.

The album begins with the instrumental introduction of "Fourth Street" which showcases the talent of this band. They change tempos on the six-minute adventure of "Imagery" and continues with the more metal appeal of "Perception." They add some up-tempo thrash metal to "Start The War," but also display their softer, more sensible side on "Show Me." The album closes with the epic eight-minute rocker "Last" that gives Imagery the perfect blend of progressive metal music.
