It has been only five short years since the Dirty Heads released their debut album "Any Port In The Storm," which made a minor splash in the musical pond. Their second album "Cabin By The Sea" cracked the top 20 when it was released in 2012 through Eleven Seven Music. Their fun sound comes directly from the California beaches, stating bands like Sublime and Bob Marley as hugh influences.
On October 29th, the Dirty Heads released their third album, "Home - Phantoms Of Summer: The Acoustic Sessions." It debuted at #27 on the Billboard Album chart and features a more laid back, relaxed sound due to the album's raw recording. The album features 8 brand new songs and also an acoustic version of the their "Top 40" hit "Cabin By The Sea."
The songs on this album are built for the perfect summer soundtrack, starting off with "Warming Sun" as you close your eyes and are instantly transported to Caribbean. They don't stray too far from their reggae/pop/hip-hop formula until we hit the two-minute dark tones of "Phantom." The song showcases a different side to their songwriting. The Dirty Heads seem to be having fun recording this album as heard in this new laid-back version of "Cabin By The Sea" and the rolling lyrics of "Sloth's Revenge." The album closes with the quick, two-minute "Outro (Beast Of The Lake)," which seems like the only incomplete song of the set.
