Book Review: Rita Rae Roxx Relives Her Fantasies In "Once Upon A Rock Star"

The eighties heavy metal/hard rock scene was full of sex, drugs and rock n roll and a newly released book "Once Upon A Rock Star: Backstage Passes in the Heavy Metal Eighties - Big Hair, Bad Boys (and One Bad Girl)" focuses on the sex and drugs. Author Rita Rae Roxx gives her first hand accounts of getting backstage, doing drugs and sleeping with some of the biggest names in rock history.

After scoring her first groupie hook-up with Billy Squire in 1980, she got a taste of the wild life of a rock musician. In her book, her big conquest was sleeping with David Lee Roth as drugs flowed like water in the backstage and hotels of some of the bands that defined that era like Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Aerosmith. Rita lets all her emotions flow onto the pages as she gives as many details as she can recall about being with enough rock stars to fill a book. She enjoyed the relationships with each and every one, but also appreciated the hunt of getting backstage to meet some of her idols.

The new book is 204 pages full of the hard rock lifestyle of the eighties and how one specific groupie became the "queen of rock n roll." Don't come looking here for any musical insight, but instead to remember a time when sex, drugs and rock n roll were the biggest things in music.
