CD Review: "The King" Tops The Charts For Avenged Sevenfold

California heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold return with their sixth album entitled "Hail To The King." It was released back in August where it debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart, continuing upon the success of their last album "Nightmare." This is also the first album to feature the band's new drummer Arin Ilejay.

The album starts off with the sounds of a burning fire and a bell tolling in the background as a tribute to Black Sabbath, but then the music takes over and you instantly are draw to the heavy metal guitar and drumming of "Shepard Of Fire." The album carries more of a classic metal sound than a modern one as displayed in "Hail To The King" and "This Means War." The band slow the tempo down for the power balled "Crimson Day," but quickly return with the hard hitting "Coming Home" and "Planets." The album closes with the big, epic production of "Acid Rain" as songwriting and song structure play an important role on this new release.

After performing at Rock In Rio with Iron Maiden and Slayer, Avenged Sevenfold are hitting the U.S. in October, then heading over to Europe in November. For more information on the new album and for a complete list of tour dates, check out avengedsevenfold.com.
