CD Review: Matt & The City Limits "Crash" Onto The Music Scene

Jazz Prodigy Matt Berman is ready to release his debut album entitled “Crash.” Matt and his band, The City Limits, hail from New York and combine the sound of his influences like Steely Dan with the clever pop-oriented wordplay of John Mayer and Jason Mraz to make some truly original music.

The album begins with “That Girl,” which is a great introduction to shows off the wonderful talents of The City Limits as they complement Matt’s vocals perfectly. At times it sounds like Matt and The City Limits are bringing Jazz to the mainstream in the pop-style of “Keep Love,” but also proudly display their love for classic Jazz, in the nightclub sounds of “Change.” Matt lets his vocals soar on the ballad “On the Other Side” before finishing with the horn-lead instrumental “Bring It On Home To Me.”

The new album will be released on February 21 through Island/Def Jam records. For more information on Matt and the City Limits new album “Crash,” please visit their facebook page (facebook.com/MattandTheCityLimits).
