CD Review: Golden Glow's "Tender" New Release

Singer/songwriter Pierre Hall has released a new album entitled "Tender Is The Night" under the name Golden Glow. Pierre was once a member of the British-pop band Lead Balloons until 2009. After a car accident that left him unable to walk for 6 months, Pierre rethought his musical approach and began Golden Glow.

Pierre's deep voice draws similarities to Peter Murphy on the album's opening track "Adore Me" as the music plays out like a dance beat highlighted by some punk guitar strums. The album starts to take off with "The Cure" as his voice and chorus are irresistible. The demo sounding "The Blizzard" captures that moment of recording that overdubs would only ruin. Although the sound is a bit rough, it plays perfectly into the overall sound Pierre is trying to portray. Pierre' s voice once again deepens to reflect the combination of singers Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen, especially on the mellow "All Time". He rocks out on the aggressive sounding "At A Loss" before returning back to the more pop friendly "Streetlighter".

His new album was released on June 21 and Golden Glow have a few dates scheduled in the U.K. Check out his videos on his myspace page (myspace.com/goldenglowmusic) to get a sense at how much talent Pierre Hall has to give.
