CD Review: Folk Rockers Priory Pass Along Their Debut Album

From Oregon comes Priory with their self-titled debut album on Portland's Expunged Records. The band crosses the lines of folk and pop with a great use of lyrics. The new album was released on June 21.

The perfect example of their cross-referenced sound is "Kings of Troy". The up-tempo song carries a pop dance beat with folk acoustics and storytelling lyrics. The band relies on the background of keyboards in order to spotlight their lyrics as in "Lady of Late", but take a more folk rock approach on "Alone". The songs "Red Sun" and "White Coats" show-off a Kings of Leon-style to their music while making the vocals all their own.

Priory have tour dates set-up through mid-July hitting the Midwest. Check out the band's website (priorymusic.com) for a complete list of dates as well as more information on their new album.
