CD Review: Introducing The Duo Of Hank & Cupcakes

Pop duo Hank & Cupcakes have released a new EP last year and are touring the east coast this fall. Beginning this weekend, Hank & Cupcakes will be performing live at The Space in Hamden, CT.

The New York duo have a dance/pop sound that's hard to resist. Cupcakes vocals on "Roses" draws you in with her sweet sound, but that's only one dimension of the band. Hank's bass beat gives the songs their dance energy. The songs "Ain't No Love" and "Pleasure Town" could be and should be playing at clubs across the country. Cupcakes does her best Meg White impression with a simple, but very effective drum beat in "She's Lost Control."

The EP was produced by Mark B. Christensen (50 Cent) and is beginning to take-off on New York radio stations. Check out this video of Hank & Cupcakes performing live in New York's Break Thru Radio station following their appearance on MTV's show "The Seven." For more information and tour dates, check out their myspace page (www.myspace.com/hankandcupcakes).
