Singer-songwriter Rusty Willoughby has been writing, recording and performing for almost 2 decades. He's mostly known for his work with the band Pure Joy. His latest release "Cobirds Unite" is a quiet, mostly acoustic, storytelling masterpiece.
With a sound similar to Jeff Tweedy and Wilco, Rusty Willoughby keeps the volume on low with his voice capturing the mood. "Crown of Thorns" is soft-shuffle with Rusty's voice highlighted by Rachel Flotard harmonizing vocals. Rusty gets even softer on his delivery in "Cobirds Unite." Drums finally get thrown into the mix on the up-tempo "Find A Way Home." One of the highlights of the album is the song "Streets Of Baltimore." It brings all of Rusty's elements of song-writing and singing together for a memorable, magical performance.
Rusty has a handful of performances planned in September. They include a CD Release show in Seattle, WA on September 24 and a performance on October 20 with Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders. For more information on these shows and Rusty Willoughby's new album, please visit rustywilloughby.com.
