The latest musical commodity to come from Nashville, Tennessee is the rock band American Bang. They just released their Warner Bros. Record debut and the album's first single "Whiskey Walk" is taking off on the charts.
The new album draws strong similarities to the Kings of Leon with its energetic blues-rock sound and lead singer Jaren Johnston's howling vocals. The album includes the band's hit single "Wild and Young" which climbed to #24 on the Modern Rock charts earlier this year. When the band slows the tempo down as in "Angels", their modern rock sound turns southern as a strong lead guitar accompanies Jaren's vocals. The band rocks on "She Don't Cry No More" and "Hurts Like Hell" with up-tempo, energetic drums and searing guitars. The bluesy "Wouldn't Want To Be You" carries a sound running along the same vein as Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers newest release. While American Bang's sound may not be totally original, the music this band produces is true, honest rock that is certainly welcome in today's world.
American Bang are currently on tour until the beginning of November promoting their new self-titled album. The band will be performing on September 19 at the Webster Theater in Hartford, CT. For a complete list of tour dates and band info, visit americanbang.com.
