CD Review: Margot & The Nuclear So And So's "Buzzard"

Margot & The Nuclear So And So's return September 21 with their new album entitled "Buzzard." This latest release finds the band taking a more mainstream approach with their third album. It displays a more alternative rock sound to singer/guitarist Richard Edwards' songwriting.

The flow of words and music in "Birds" gets interrupted by a guitar driven chorus of repeated lyrics. "Claws Off" and "Freak Flight Speed" shows us that this band can rock, but it's the mellowness of "Tiny Vampire Robot" where we find Edward's lyrics come to life. The song "Lunatic, Lunatic, Lunatic" combines the gentleness of an acoustic guitar with the highlights of electric guitars played back in reverse to give it a memorable touch. The album closer "I Do" finds Edwards' in the studio alone. This mostly acapella track gives us a slight hint of an acoustic guitar as Richard Edwards' voice resembles a young David Gilmour.

Margot & The Nuclear So And So's are currently on tour in support of this new release. They have about 40 dates booked for the next two months. The album "Buzzard" will be released through the band's own label Mariel Recordings with distribution through Redeye Records. For more information, please visit
